SFMI is one of the most active designers of communications systems in the Public Schools in the state of California. During our thirteen years of practice in San Francisco, we have
consistently broadened our scope of services and knowledge to better serve our clients, especially in the educational sector. As part of this trend, we formed a specialized core engineering group in 1992
focused on the design of integrated LAN, MAN and WAN network topologies, Video Retrieval and Distribution Systems, CD Library and on-line Systems, Distance and Collaborative Learning, Internet Access, Districtwide
Voice, E-mail and SASI Systems for our educational clients. We have now built considerable experience in bringing technology into architecture using combinations of copper, coax and fiber optic distribution
systems.
Our typical scope of work includes
Pre-design Working with school site and District representatives to develop an implementation program and budget
Design Development:
Coordination with other designers to define plans for new communications closets, new electrical services and new mechanical system. If the District does not already have such designers under contract for this work, SFMI may act as "Prime Design" and hire other Design Professionals to form a complete team for special projects.
Contract Documents: Preparation of Contract Documents (drawings and specifications), as well as preparation of General Conditions and Bid Forms.
Bid:
Assist the District in putting the Project out to public bid, including marketing the Project to hundreds of specialty bidders, hosting bid walks, and preparing necessary addenda as changes emerge.
Construction: Review submittals and shop drawings, provide on-site observation of Contractor work, observe proof-of-performance testing.

repeat projects performed over long periods for the same District's, demonstrating SFMI's ability to sustain high quality service.
