  • Scope of Services: Design of a new paging and emergency announcement system for half square mile facility.  Chemical Processing Plant (CPP)

    As part of the design of a new paging and emergency announcement system for this half square mile facility, SFMI created a software package to assist the site technicians in collecting the requisite  octave band spectral data and spectral reverb time. Data was used to analyze each space and determine the appropriate speaker type, location and power to achieve a minimum Articulation Index.  SFMI assisted in training on site technicians in meter use and in obtaining measurements under difficult conditions.

  • Air Force Satellite Control Network, Consolidated Space Test Center, Onizuka AFB, Sunnyvale, California
  •  SCIF Sound Isolation, Computer Facility Noise Control and Room Acoustics. Measurements and mitigation measures to reduce excessive occupational noise levels generated by IBM mainframe computer center. As part of the mitigation measures, SFMI recommended installation of appropriate size  barriers. Following implementation, SFMI conducted proof of performance testing and verified their compliance.

  • Loral Space Systems - Pile Driving, Palo Alto, California
  • Assessment, mitigation design and monitoring of noise and vibration of pile driving adjacent to Loral Space Systems building. Purpose was to determine whether existing occupants could remain in the building and whether minicomputers could remain on-line during the course of the pile driving. SFMI assisted in the design of a crane carried noise barrier used to shield the occupants from the noise of pile driving activity and measured sample vibration levels to determine the actual level of vibration associated with pile driving.
