We currently have an opening for a Low Voltage/Communications Systems Project Engineer.
The ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:
- BSEE and 3 years active U.S. design experience or BISCI RCDD and 5 years active U.S. design experience.
- Design experience will be in the area of public sector low voltage and structured cabling design procured through public bid documents. Project experience will consist of K-12
schools, college and university, civic and local government.
- Design experience will include thorough knowledge of industry standard structured cabling design practices, nomenclature and standards. Knowledge will extend to knowing standard and
small form factor fiber connector options, fiber media options, category rated cabling options and industry trends. Knowledge will also include industry standard outside plant ductbank and interior raceway
distribution design.
- Design experience will further include a working knowledge of MATV design and knowledge of the NEC and CEC, as they apply to low voltage design and communications closet layout.
- Design experience will include the ability to skillfully read and write 3 part CSI specifications suitable for public bid procurement.
- Design experience will include the ability to efficiently read and markup industry standard site plans and architectural blueprints to reflect communications conduit paths
requirements, jack locations and closet layouts. Design experience will further extend to being able to review such layouts for completeness and accuracy.
- Ability to discuss project requirements in written correspondence, meetings and over the telephone.
- Ability to review contractor submittals and shop drawings, review work in the field and to prepare punch lists.
The ideal candidate will also be a U.S. citizen.
The candidate will also:
- have good communications skills
- have a car and being able to drive
- have a willingness to work to project deadlines in an organized manner and with attention detail
- be knowledgeable of contemporary software used in design
- be able to lift 75 pounds
